About the Brand

Laurie Lava-Books is a 2Spirit/Yurok/Karuk/Chimariko/Northern European, neuro-divergent medicine woman and an enrolled tribal member of the Karuk Nation of Northern California. She lives and creates in the lush Pacific Northwest—Cowlitz & Western Klickitat first nations territory (aka Battle Ground, WA) with gratitude & honor to the Chinook, Cowlitz, Western Klickitat, Chinook, and all First Nations people that were care-takers of this land before us.

The term “Two-Spirit” (meaning to embody both male and female spirits) was adopted by Indigenous Native American people in the early 1990s as an all-inclusive term for Native LGBTQIA+ people. Two Spirit people are highly valued as medicine keepers and seers of our tribes. We hold/held many revered religious roles as healers, shamans, visionaries, and chiefs.

Note on the Potions: The dropper can clog sometimes, especially when it hasn’t been shaken often enough and the honey settles to the bottom. It’s not spoiled. Just pop the dropper out and use a sterile safety pin to unclog it.
