Summer evenings in Portland are always magical. Just like unfolding a wrapped garment that has been tied and dyed. The experience of discovering as your work unwinds is equally magical. The indigo dye turns from green to blue as the air oxidizes the piece, resulting in beautiful and sometimes unexpected patterns.
“I love that these two worlds combine so nicely. People are making, learning, and coming together as a community in a chill environment and they always have a great time.”
YVONNE PEREZ-EMERSON
We had a full house for our Shibori Workshop in collaboration with Green Sky Collective. 40 plus makers created garden flags and tea towels, and some brought their own garments to dye.
Green Sky Collective set up a blend making bar where participants could discover and indulge in their unique offerings. Everyone also had a chance to create their own blends and take notes on Blend Cards. Green Sky choose three lucky participants who's blends and names stood out to be featured in their store, they will be revealing these soon!
“Green Sky appreciates community events like this. It gives us a chance to share our work in unique and creative ways.”
SAM WATSON, GREEN SKY COLLECTIVE
Also on hand was Karma Organics who shared the process of resin pressing, and Ed's World Famous who gave everyone a close up look of the closed loop BHO extraction machine that was on display. It was a nice intro to learning about concentrates.
Look for this workshop to repeat again, and the magic to unfold.
Thank you to Susie Morris for the awesome photos!
