Welcome Aquarius—DIY Bath Salts & Becoming

Welcome Aquarius—DIY Bath Salts & Becoming

The Season of The Fool

As the zero card and first of the Major Arcana, The Fool represents beginnings born from the great cosmic no-thing. Ruled by Uranus and Aquarius, The Fool sets down on their own path being pulled by intuition and knowing. The path laid ahead is theirs alone. It may not make sense to others, but it doesn't need to. Nor does The Fool need permission to take that first step of faith. What matters is that they follow their heart and let their higher self lead and guide them on this new journey through self discovery and incredible growth. With The Fool we are being invited to trust ourselves in the truest form, leaving ego behind and and truly connecting within. We are becoming.

The Water Bearer

Often mistaken as a water sign, Aquarius is ruled by air, the element of intellect, ideas and wisdom. Uranus is known as the modern planetary ruler of Aquarius. Blazing trails and following their inner guidance, Aquarius leads themselves into evolution. Uranus energy is known to be unconventional and shake things up. Just like The Fool, Aquarius needs to challenge conformity in order to promote freedom and originality. They see the bigger picture as it pertains to the whole and the future. Planning, visioning, and connecting with the advancement of collective consciousness.

Other Tarot Cards associated with Aquarius are the 5, 6, 7 and Knight of Swords--the suit of air--as well as the Star, whose imagery closely resembles Aquarius’ symbol, the Water Bearer.

Aquarian Themes for Self Care

We can honor and care for ourselves during time through rituals and charms with intentions for social change, inspired innovation, and connecting with others.

Herbs associated with Aquarius: Lavender (Lavandula officinalis), Kava Kava (Piper methysticum), Peppermint (Mentha piperita), Cacao (Theobroma cacao), Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha), Comfrey (Symphytum officinale), Vervain (Verbena officinalis), Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana), Water Violet (Hottonia palustris), Jasmine (Jasminum spp.), Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis).

Body parts ruled by Aquarius are the lower leg, calves, and ankles.

The Ritual

This month's ritual is centered around creating your own foot soak/scrub that you can use to put in your warm water and also scrub your feet and calves. Homemade body scrubs also benefit the planet, reducing the amount of microplastics from commercial scrubs getting into our water supply, yet another Aquarian theme.

This Ritual is also great because it’s something you can share with others. This month the ritual itself will be in the act of making this scrub. By focusing your intentions into this creation, you are doing something not only for yourself but for the collective. Perhaps to stick with Aquarian themes after the ritual, you can look up mutual aid organizations to volunteer for or donate to while using your scrub/soak.

What You'll Need

  • 2 cups Epsom Salt + Coarse Sea Salt
  • Essential Oils (You can also use our Rosemary Lavender Roll-on)
  • ¼ cup Aquarian Herbs such as lavender, peppermint, rosemary
  • Mixing bowl and spoon
  • Jar to store
  • ¼ cup carrier oil such as jojoba, sweet almond, grapeseed or olive, etc

Keep in mind these measurements are a guide, you may use more or less of anything to make this unique to you and your preferences. Most of these ingredients can be found online, your local co-op or perhaps even in your garden.

Let's Get Started

Clarify and cleanse your space. Call in help from ancestors, guides, plants, deities, and light your candles, incense or cleansing smoke and set your intentions. Then gather all of your tools and supplies.

Combine herbs and salt in a bowl and slowly begin stirring in the carrier oil until mixture is semi smooth, but not goopy. Now add 8-10 drops of essential oil. If you want to use our CBD Rosemary Lavender Roll-on, just pop off the roller and use a dropper to add this to your mix! Once you feel satisfied with your mixture, spoon into a container or glass jar with a tight-fitting lid. This process is your time to be creative, so feel free to eyeball the amounts of ingredients you’d like to add, whatever feels intuitive to you. Aquarius season stretches from January 19th to February 18th, giving you have plenty of time to perform this ritual. Keep an eye out for any Aquarian themes arising both personally and collectively this season.

We would love to see photos of your Aquarian themed salt scrubs or hear the different ways in which you are honoring Aquarius Season!

We have some exciting new offerings coming this month that we can't wait to share with you! A whole new way to level up your self care is on the horizon.
