The Shape of Things: Opening Night

We are excited to launch our first artshow at our location, Casa de Ritual with the talented Pearlyn Tan.

Pearlyn creates heartfelt works of art through ink, paint and ceramics. Her diverse portfolio has a common thread of growth and transformation, with themes of motherhood and Mother Nature. She has been creating under the pseudonym @the_unordinary_motherhood since 2016 after her younger son was born with a genetic multi-system disorder called Williams Syndrome – https://williams-syndrome.org/

“My art practice started as an outlet to process and express my experiences through all the uncertainties, challenges and joys of navigating a new motherhood journey with a child born with disability. It also provides a space to reclaim some of the loss of self and identity that comes with being a mom. What started in a place of fear and darkness has grown into an expression of hope and a new path.”

Pearlyn is originally from Singapore, and now calls Portland, Oregon her home
