This class was amazing! Fabric artists Chloë Hight lead our intimate class in the art of natural dying. We used plants foraged from our urban environment to create an array of dyes. Each attendant had two scarves—cotton and silk, and swatch books to record their findings.
It was interesting to see how the plants reacted with the alum, sometimes turning green plants to pink dye! Bark, flowers, weeds and local plants from Cherry to the Rosemary growing outside our door heightened our senses and became our muse.
